Leone Absinthe Candy Review:
-Produced in Italy -1 oz box
Boy, does this one ever have an identity crisis. An exterior paper wrapping labels this as an “absinth candy” on the front, yet spells it properly as “absinthe” on the seal. Once the wrapper is off, it is suddenly touted as simply a “digestive”, no mention of it specifically being a candy. And to top things off, this gimmick-in-a-box is out of Italy? Upon unwrapping, there is not much aroma at all, really. The candy pieces themselves are hard and small like rabbit food pellets or something, and have a chalklike powder over them. Some mild anise is there, but these things are just too bitter and dry for their own damn good. And just like real chalk powder,-not that I’ve tasted it or anything- it just zaps the moisture right out of your mouth. If you find that appetizing, by all means, just hit the school supply aisle and save yourself a little cash. By the time I was about halfway through the teeny box, it became obvious these things weren’t going to grow on me no matter how many I ate. The box remains unfinished. Also of particular annoyance was that I constantly had to blow off my typewriter keys as I was writing the review. Good Lord, it’s like someone sneezed after prepping a gram-sized line of blow! Other notes: This is made with actual (not very good tasting) absinthe, so don’t go giving this stuff to your grandkids, now. It’s also a choking hazard…for both infants and adults… Recommended?: Only if you ate sticks of chalk in Elementary school.
